Regional Cyber Challenge 2019 was a hands-on Cyber Incident Response Challenge organised by Cyber8Lab and Silensec using Silensec's Cyber Range Platform. The challenge was organised in conjunction with the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) Perth Conference 2019 themed "Change the Rules, Up the Game", on the 22nd of November.
This was the first of it's kind live remote cyber challenge ever organised by Cyber8Lab, Silensec and AISA together.
The event saw the gathering of CyberSecurity Professionals with multidisciplinary competences from nine (9) countries virtually with the objective to assess the ability of a security team to detect, respond and recover from cyber attacks.
The challenge was modelled against the Specialised agency’s of the United Nation, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s Cyber Drill Program called the Applied Learning for Emergency Response Team (ALERT) while combining the action of attack and defence competitions. The challenge lasted for five (5) hours during which each team had access to its own infrastructure and defended from and responded to a range of security attacks.
All participating teams were provided with Challenge’s Rules and Regulations as well as Code of Ethics upon registration.
